Widows Gold was founded by power couple, Madeline Star and Ben Sauer, during the pandemic. The debut single ‘Pretend’ from their self-titled EP received rotational radio play from Mark Foster [Foster the People] on Alt Nation in 2021. WG quickly followed up with a handful of singles throughout 2022 with features in Wonderland Mag and Hype Machine.

Their first album Love Drops released in January 2023, which caught the attention of producer Alex Newport (At the Drive-In, Bloc Party, Death Cab for Cutie). The band christened Newport’s freshly built studio in Joshua Tree with ‘Nothing Can Break Me’.

After 3 years of different producers and studios, Widows Gold decided to start engineering, producing and mixing themselves – as heard on their two latest singles. ‘Gaslighter’ came out the gates on Apple Music’s “New in Alternative” and Spotify’s “Fresh Finds Rock” editorial playlists. The press are saying the track is “…another hidden gem prime for a breakthrough.” - The Wild Is Calling
